Partial denture
A partial denture, also known as a removable partial denture, is a prosthetic device used to replace one or more missing teeth in the mouth. Unlike complete dentures, partial dentures are designed to replace only the missing teeth and rely on the remaining natural teeth for support and retention.
A partial denture is typically composed of a pink acrylic base that matches the shape of the gums and artificial teeth that correspond to the color and shape of the natural teeth. The base of the partial denture rests on the gum tissues and is held in place by metal clasps that grip onto adjacent teeth.
Partial dentures are often recommended when multiple teeth are missing and dental implants or fixed bridges are not a viable option. They provide an aesthetic and functional solution for replacing missing teeth, allowing patients to regain their ability to eat, speak, and smile confidently.
It is important to note that adjusting to a partial denture may require a period of adaptation, and regular dental care is necessary to maintain good oral health and extend the lifespan of the denture. It is recommended to consult with a dentist or a dental prosthetist to assess if a partial denture is suitable for your specific case and to receive professional guidance on proper care and maintenance.
